It started on Thursday night when I went to Terroni's Bar Centrale with a couple of girlfriends for wine and tapas. It was delicious, and deliciously decorated as well :) This is the ground floor level of the new Terroni Bar Centrale in Summerhill - I recommend popping by if you're in the mood for some delicious Italian noshing.
via Terroni - note the gorgeous herringbone floors and marble base on the prep area (hard to see in this pic, but impressive)
Friday night I met up with my friend M for dinner at Victory Cafe (she is the talented one who designed my blog header). I enjoyed my first ever Shandy (1/2 beer, 1/2 gingerale) - and think that may well be my drink of choice this summer (note to self: buy gingerale). The interior of Victory could use a makeover, but the patio was a hot spot and where we sat. Check out my delicious meal of pulled pork sandwich and mac&cheese (so brilliant to have that as a side dish!):
(half of that came home with me for lunch on Saturday)
Saturday started out healthy with a simple egg scramble with sauteed mushrooms, onions, asparagus and tomatoes - great pre-workout breakfast:
Unfortunately no matter how many times we said "We really should take pictures of the food before we eat it", this was the best we could do for our favourite item:
Ummm, yah. Sorry about that. It WAS an amazing spring roll with pulled pork and a delicious leek based dipping sauce from Comida del Pueblo. Here were their offerings:
We did wait a ridiculously long time for grilled cheese..it was good...but not as good as the spring roll....
Here are some more pics:
Cornbread grilled cheese (we should have gone with this one)... via NOW

via NOW - I saw this photo being taken - they waited 1.5 hours for lobster roles from Rock Lobster (we didn't wait to try it...)
That, my friends, is the weekend in a nutshell. A lot of great food and friends, and in between all that, spending time outside soaking in the beautiful spring weather.

Wait, ,wait, wait... That all soundy delicious really, but that ain't no Shandy! At least, not where I come from as google will probably prove me wrong lol. The best Shandys are made with Gingerbeer and beer. There are little squat green glass bottles, Jamacan something-or-other ginger beer. That's the stuff!
I love street food. I wish I could get doubles here. Trinidad doubles are like small sized Naan (but fried- and different) used to sandwich a curry mixture of split pea/chic pea (a lot
Ike Chana masala). Basically the greatest food ever. Now I better find you the name of the best place to get it from.... My Godfather stops by special for me and brings a supply in a cooler whenever he comes to Ottawa. Yes, spoiled I know
All of that food looks delish, but I have to say I may be drooling the most over those herringbone floors!
yum!! looks like a terrific weekend!
The Shandy sounds like it would be the perfect hot weather drink! I will have to try! I had the exact same lunch yesterday as your bbq, slaw and mac and cheese. Such a good combo!
I just ate lunch and my mouth is still watering from these pictures. What an amazing assortment of food trucks you have in Toronto! Love the guac crema with grilled cheese... nom nom nom!
I think it's safe to say this is the one time it's okay to indulge and not worry about calories :)
Oh my goodness, I'm starving now! Fabulous weekend recap.
