But now I have a question - where to put the soap dispenser?
As a reminder, our sink looks like this:
(sorry for the fuzzy photo)
The faucet will go above the lower sink, so that it will be more centered on our window, but then where does the dishsoap dispenser go? The bigger sink will be used for most of the dishwashing, so how do we put the dispenser in a place that it can shoot sink into the washing sink? or can that not happen?
Help!
Here are the options - which one do you recommend (F = faucet, S = soap dispenser)?
#1 - This is the nicest looking option, in my opinion. The faucet should be somewhat centred on our window, but it means the soap dispenser is as far as possible from the "big" sink which will be the main dishwashing sink. This means we'll probably have to dispense the soap on something and then get bubbles instead of being able to dispense it straight into the big sink.
#2 - This is functional, since the soap dispenser can now shoot into the big sink or the 1/2 sink. I'm confident the faucet will be able to get to both no matter what (it's goose neck, pull down faucet). If the layout is such that having the faucet over to the right more means it will be centered on the window I'm OK with this, otherwise it will look really off centre in regards to the sink (see here for our window over our sink).
#3 - This is also ultra funtional...but that's about it. As much of a practical, functional person I am, I just don't think I can deal with the soap dispenser randomly stuck to the left of the sink with nothing else.
#4 - I'm not sure we have enough room to put the faucet above the sink without it looking crammed...which was a big reason why we got the 1.5 sink since the right hand side was lower...but if it is possible this would be an option because it would give the soap dispenser good access to each sink.
#5 - similar situation to #4 but different placement.
Which one would you do?

I'm partial to that first one! It seems to make the most sense to me as long as the faucet can easily reach both of the tubs! :)
i agree, i think the first one makes the most sense!
Hmmm, I think I need to see the profile of the dispenser to weigh in. Since I'm now heavily invested in your kitchen redo as I live vicariously through you :) If the faucet is to take centre stage I think it needs to stay tight in that right angle. - a la option 1/3/5. I agree with your logic too, option 3 seems least pleasing (at least schematically) but high function. I think in a 1 versus 5 match up I'd take option 5 if it didn't distract too much from the star of the show. It would have to tuck in back there and almost disappear to me. Option 4 again I'm worried about upstaging having it out in front and option 2 I think, being right-handed I'd likely bump the faucet reaching to hit the dispenser.
I think that's more like a buck and 2cents for what its worth!
first one! ensure your pulldown can reach all corners of each sink, it'll drive you nuts if it doesn't! plus, will you put dishsoap in the dispenser or handsoap?
It will have dishsoap in it - I'm sure the faucet will reach both sinks, but I don't know if the soap will be able to easily squirt into the big sink (which will be the main dishwashing sink...)
The first one looks best IMO. I don't have a built in soap dispenser, but I do leave it on the side that I don't wash dishes in (not sure why?). I have a dishwasher so I don't usually fill the sink to wash dishes. I just squirt a bit of soap into the pot/pan/dish that I'm washing and carry on in the big sink. I would go with option 1. Nice sink by the way!
The first one is definitely the most attractive which I think is probably the most important thing in terms of window placement, and the faucet being much larger than the soap dispenser. I don't use a soap dispenser - I use a little good grips scrub brush that holds soap inside which sits in the sink so that eliminates the need for soap dispensers or soap bottles. Plus with the dishwasher, I don't need dishsoap accessible that often.
I'd agree with the other ladies - option one seems to be the layout I'd like best! Good luck!
I'm not a huge fan of soap dispensers to begin with, I'll admit. I prefer to have a pretty free standing soap pump in my kitchen. You can move it around, fill it super easily, swap it out as your tastes change, etc. etc. That said... I would definitely go with #1. There might be the extra step (going from soap dispenser to big sink) but it does look the most natural.
I agree #1 seems like the logical choice. However after further thought it's not my favourite. My first concern is the same as yours, that the soap dispenser won't be able to squirt into the washing sink. That would drive me CRAZY. Also, since the faucet handle is on the right side I'd worry the soap dispenser would get in the way. I'd rule out #1 on the basis of functionality. I'd also rule out #3 (the soap dispenser appears to float) and #4 (the soap dispenser would be in front of your beautiful faucet).
Assuming it's possible to center your faucet in front of the window my favourite is option #2. It keeps the faucet and dispenser in line and gives you good access to both sinks.
#5 seems to work but I'm not sure how much I love it. I'm worried it may look awkward (but it may also end up looking fantastic I can't decide).
I'll also echo the thoughts of a few others and add that I'm not a huge fan of dish soap dispensers. I think they look slick but my mom has one and when I lived with her I found it not very convenient. If you want to fill a pot with water to soak it's hard to get the soap right in the pot. She ended up still needing a bottle of dish soap for some tasks so switched the dispenser to hand soap (which is actually super convenient). Hand soap would change all the reasoning behind which layout is best.
Mine is similar to your #5: maximize the reach of the faucet to both sinks.
That's tricky. My initial reaction would be option a, but I think option five would be okay also.
Mine is done like the first one and it seems easy to use.
Hmm - I've had to step away and think about this since its a hard q. I only like soap dispenses riight next to the faucet when there is also a water dispenser on the other side to give symmetry. Soap dispenser right next to faucet seems to be distracting from faucet.
I like how this pic (see middle photo) looks: http://airlase.com/kitchen-faucets-with-soap-dispenser/
I don't like how this looks:

So I think I'm voting 2 or 3 at this point. I need to reminded on the faucet design so will check that and come back to this post
I'm back.
I now don't like 1. I saw your faucet had the lever on the right hand side. I can imagine brushing the soap dispenser every time.
I also don't like 3 now because I think your sink has sharp edges doesn't it? You don't want a soap dispenser taking away from that.
I'm going with 2
Ava makes a good point about the lever location. I think #2 would be a good option, or like others have stated, don't include the dispenser as a permanent fixture. That way you can purchase a stand alone dispenser and move it around wherever you want!

I like 5...the faucet will be the most centered and the soap dispenser will get the soap in the sink properly. You want a functional squirter (that's what she said?). I don't think you will notice the soap dispenser regardless of where it is because you have such a gorgeous tall faucet that will draw the eye up.
the 1st one!
i'm with 5. i think it's the best balance between look & functionality.
