That summer glow...

Has this been a long week, or has this been a long week?? It's been busy, but it sure has been dragging along. I am taking advantage of my company's "summer hours" tomorrow and finishing my day at 1pm. Can't wait! I have a hair appointment lined up, and then plan to browse all the lovely home stores in the Summerhill / Rosedale corridor on Yonge St. These shops include 1212, ChairTableLamp, L'Atelier, and Hollace Cluny - among others. Can't wait.

This weekend holds visits with friends, some BBQ's and hopefully a round of golf (if the weather cooperates).  It was so hot here this week, I was in heaven. Even without a/c in the house, I love summer and I love the heat.  We were just getting to the point where we were thinking of putting the window a/c in the bedroom (2 days of a 40C+ humidex will do that), but today it cooled down immensely (I'm sure that the massive thunder storm I got caught in last night coming home from the gym contributed to the cut in humidity).

That being said, this weekend is going to be a fair bit cooler, which doesn't help in my quest for a tan. You see, I'm a pale girl but I do eventually get a nice summer glow if I work on it. It just takes a while. This summer would take an exceptionally long while since we don't have any beach vacation plans (3 of the last four years we have gone to Hawaii....sigh....this year a new car is calling our name, and oh, that little spring vacation we already took to Europe!). Although I always wear sun screen I am being more conscious of sun damage as well.

Enter self-tanner. I wasn't quite sure where to start, but my friend recommended Lavera.

A bit more expensive than drugstore options (but available at Target in the US!), this is paraben-free and completely natural. Since self-tanners haven't been studied over time (who knows if they're any better or worse than UV rays??) I felt a bit better about getting a natural product. So today when the weather cooled down I bought a tube and applied my first "coat" (it's just like painting isn't it??).  I'll try to update on the results, which will hopefully be smooth, non-streaky, and natural. I'll keep you updated :)

Happy weekend everyone!

I could use a little self-tanner myself ;) Each summer my arms and face get super tanned, while the rest o' me remains pale and pasty. Life just isn't fair, is it?!

Forgot to mention that I usually use a makeup sponge lightly on my elbows, knees and ankles to make sure too much tanner doesn't settle there. Hope you have a nice even glo!

I'm so jealous of your shopping trip. Great stores! Let me know what you think of the tanner. I've never tried one but since the weather doesn't seem to want to cooperate, it might be a good idea.
