I haven't quite decided what to do with them. They are actually pretty comfortable as extra seating in our living room, however I can totally envision them on our porch or out back for extra seating in the summer. I will be spray painting the base a solid colour and I did some quick browsing of fabrics and found some fun ones - not sure if I've found one that will work for outside and in my living room (and I also need to find out how to sew a round cushion cover...).
This would look great with a yellow or turquoise spray painted base....or on charcoal if I wanted to play it safe. It might be tough to match up the patterns on a round cushion though. Via Tonic Living.
Nice wide black and white stripe on a black base. Fabric via Tonic Living
This with a coral or orange base would be sweet for outside! via Tonic Living
This would also be cute on an orange base. via Tonic Living
Love how this is free form and not so perfect. via Pinterest via Spoonflower
This is a nice neutral palette - which is likely better for the living room...but just not as fun! via Fabric.com
How do you think I should finish them?

If you figure out how to sew a round cushion cover please post a "How To"! I have some round cushions I have been trying to re-cover and I am not having any luck!
Is a nice crisp white too predictable? Do you really need the cushion for comfort? I think I'd go for a clean bright white - full coverage as not to look too beachy- then paint the top fifth or so a glossy bright pomegranate type shade, again a clean not muddied tone. I don't know why, that's not really my style but a more
Mod approach might be a nice contrast to the classic shape. If cushions are a must ask your mum! I'm sure she knows, if not I'll ask mine :)
I adore the navy ikat dots from Tonic Living!
They look comfortable the way they are. I would consider spray painting them in patterns around the drum using masking tapes. :-)
I think you should do a "dip" treatment, just paint 1/3 of the way up in something fun! (I did some round cushions a few years back - the easiest way I've found is to cut two circles and a side band, then just sew together) Can't wait to see them finished! What some people throw away amazes me..
Love Tonic Living's new Navy ikat dot...this would look really global and fun! But honestly, how could you go wrong with any of these beauties?!
I agree with Anne-Marie - dip treatment would make these look so chic and current :) Love the navy dots
I love Anne-Marie's dip treatment idea too! Oh, and I love anything navy :)
I actually love the first one with the turquoise base! That fabric is so fun!
I am liking the dip treatment idea - they would look so fabulous. If that fails, then spray paint! Love the dots too from Tonic Living, it would lend itself to a circular pillow!
I like the leopard with coral! Yes, this means I'm officially a cougar.
Love the top pattern. Maybe you could upholster a seat with some foam on a round board, that way you don't have the sewing issue? Although, i'm not a sewer, so I couldn't offer any ideas on that route. Then I'd spray paint the bottom yellow:)
Following you now.
